Isaac Kwaku Anim Appiah, known by most as DJ Isaac Cool, was born in Tanzania but eventually moved to Ghana, where he kicked off his career as a DJ and eventually became a radio presenter. His 15-year career in radio has seen him DJ on some of Accra’s finest stations, including Hitz FM, Pravda Radio, VOM Radio, Live FM, and most recently, Starr FM.
In the last decade, DJ Isaac Cool developed a niche for himself as one of the premier disc jockeys in Ghana. He can be credited for being one of the early promoters of Afro-house in West Africa, alongside DJ Kev. With regular gigs both on air and at events, Isaac was greatly influential in pushing the South African sound that has evolved into the amapiano trend that fills Accra’s nightlife scenes today.
Isaac was passionate about music, and he pursued that passion throughout his career. In 2018, he started hosting his own radio show called "Jam Afrique" on Live 91.9FM. The show brought in A-list talents from all across Africa. Isaac promoted hit records and discovered budding new artists on the Jam Afrique show. His charismatic on-air persona and impressive DJ’ing abilities quickly made him a fan favourite amongst radio listeners globally. Isaac was also instrumental in connecting other African radio DJs and presenters to Ghana, often giving them guest appearances on Jam Afrique.
Isaac’s talent went beyond just DJ’ing to managing music programming for the same stations he worked at. He was pivotal in the careers of key on-air personalities he played for during that time. His incredible ear for music cut across many genres. From voice-over artistry to producing and mixing, directing, shaping radio imagery, and more; DJ Isaac came as the full package, leaving an indelible mark at the stations he worked at.
In addition to his work in radio and music, DJ Isaac Cool also established himself as one of the premier DJs in Ghana's nightlife scene. He held residencies at some of the country's top-tier venues, such as Labadi Beach Hotel, No 10, Alley Bar, and Front/Back, to name a few. His ability to read the crowd and deliver exactly what they needed made him a go-to fixture in Accra's nightlife circuit.

His pure humility and simplicity are among the many traits he will be remembered for, traits he never wavered from until his sad passing. Our paths intertwined many years ago as family friends, but beyond these ties, we frequently collaborated in the realm of media. Alongside fellow artists from out 'hometown' Dansoman, we crafted some of his very first jingles for VoM Radio.
